Click-clack went her heels on the cobblestone road
In the echoing darkness that should have forbode.
We crows cawed a warning, there’s demons about
And if she came closer, she would not get out.
But her steps did not waver, her senses did fail
For the danger was nearing through night’s thinning veil.
The air prickled colder, the moon’s light aglow
She now felt the danger and started to slow.
Her pulse started racing, her eyes looked quite wild
She took a step back as we squawked and reviled.
But she did not panic, her eyes found a door
And the prospect of safety soon warmed in her core.
With a fast-beating heart, and a quickening breath
She sprinted for shelter and ran from her death.
The relief in her eyes was just starting to dawn
Then, pitter-patter, snatch! – Another one gone.
